Default Metric Seals in Aftermarket Kits.

I'm on my third aftermarket gasket set for K321 engines. All from different sellers. And everyone of them has metric "equivalent" substitutes for the inch size crankshaft seals. The smaller flywheel side is doable. But the pto side is not. That seal should be 1 1/2"X 2 3/8', and the metric seal substitute 38X80mm. The inside is close enough but the outside is .013" smaller and just slides through with very light finger pressure. Two of the sellers just responded with "never had a problem". Third ignored my question.

Have any of you encountered this and how did you remedy it? Do you know of any kits that have the correct seals so a person doesn't have to source them separately?

To me it's very irritating when they advertise "direct replacement for precise fit." and then it is obviously not.

Just the generic aftermarket kits from Amazon and ebay.

Shipping to Canada is often the biggest barrier and expense. Some won't ship and others now just use the shipping hubs which range anywhere from $60 to well over $100. Then add 35% for the exchange and often duty. A $50 gasket set could end up costing me $135 +

Or someone could just send me one for my birthday

When you find something you need and the shipping is insane as
you say. We could have it mailed to me and I will mail it to you if
that scenario saves you some cash. I don't know how the hole
system works.
It doesn't even need to be your birthday.

Haha, thanks Ken! I just may end up doing that for a few of the impossible to find in Canada parts. I don't have a real Cub dealer even close to me. The guy here always recommends I contact head office in Ontario.

Do you have a bearing/seal distributor in your area.

Here in Ontario I use https://canadianbearings.com/

They have a shop literally just around the corner from where I work,
so I've been using them for bearings and seals for my Cub Cadets, my Farmalls, my Fergusons, all of my farming equipment.

Thanks Green407. I do have a good supply house here and can order from the hydraulic shop that I retired from

I guess it just chafes my butt that I have to spend time and money supplementing a kit advertised as a “complete replacement for a precise fit” by the sellers.

FYI, Norman at Isavetractors says his kits and seals are the correct inch sizes.

Glad to hear that you have options.

Yes I agree, it's bull that you need to supplement a complete kit
and it's even more annoying that a $15 part will cast you almost $35
by the time it's delivered from across the border.

Yes, I've been very please by the quality of the parts that Norm sells.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
