The 104 that I found sitting outside for years was in bad shape when I got to looking at it this morning......fixed the battery cables, flush tank, muddobber nest in the intake valve area, put carb on from the 126, sediment bowl, fuel lines, battery, plug wire, and fresh fuel..........started right away and runs and idles like new. One problem though, the clutch is stuck together, how do I get it working again?

First thing I do when I get one with a stuck clutch is to hold the pedal down and put a large screw driver between the disk and the plate and try to pop them apart, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I have had a lot more of them pop loose than ones that didn't.
Glad to hear that things are going well so far. |

Be careful trying to force the clutch pieces apart. The discs can sometimes be very brittle and break easily.

I did get it apart with hammer and screwdriver and it is working, although the disc did get abused during the process it has probably been rusted together for years.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
