Here is picture of what it looks like just so you know what you are
wrenching on.https://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/...8&postcount=41 I jack up the rear end so both wheels are off the ground. Loosen your lock nut on the brake rod. I would just keep messing with it so as you press the brake pedal it begins to engage the brake. The manual gives some decent guidelines but not perfect on the brake setting position on the pedal itself. Keep in mind the brake is not stopping the wheels but the rear end which makes the wheels not able to turn. If you can get it set at the point where the brake just engages, then you will be able to set the hydro to return to neutral with the brake. I hope that makes some sense. If not just say so I will try to explain it different. It might take some tinkering but worth taking your time. Also make sure that all the places that pivot turn and such are free of crud. Just follow the linkages from brake to rear end and make sure all moves easily. 50 years worth of crud can seriously mess with your attempt to adjust. Good Luck ![]() Ken |

Before I mess somebody up let me state this different. Do your initial
brake adjust with rear wheels on ground. Then set the wheels back up on blocks to do the hydro adjust for neutral. I knew what I was thinking just got ahead of myself writing. ![]() Ken |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
