I am on my way back home from Montana with a trailer load from my grandpa's garage. He offered me his Original, if I came and got it... and ended up with an Original (with deck and snow blade), a Sears ST10 with a snow blower and deck, and a Jacobsen Chief with a deck on the trailer heading back to PA.
64321808854.jpg The Original serial number is registered somewhere. It came from Johnstown PA originally by my uncle, and then was transported to Montana, and now it's going back to PA with me. Is the serial number stamped on the side of the transmission?

Had a Minneapolis Moline Town/country 108 many moons ago (Jacobson chief)
little 8 hp Kohler with timed 36" deck. Worked it death for 10 years and sold it to a collector for 3x that I paid for it. Jacobsen also made them for Ford lawn tractors back in the day. Tuff little unit. |

Glad you made the trip. Sounds like it was a great success in many ways.
Did you get out of MT before we got hammered with all the snow and cold last weekend? Ken |

We left two days early to beat the snow out. We heard snow measured in feet in the mountains we packed up. We planned to leave and go out route 2 through glacier and up through Maria’s Pass, and Cut Bank because we had a stop planned in Williston ND, so we could go visit Theodore Roosevelt National Park. I’m currently in Ohio at my moms for a week doing some remodeling work before heading home.

Agony, just pure agony hauling that load for days, all the time wanting to get into them twisting wrenches/playing.
Prolly spend more time looking in the rear view mirror, than out the windshield. ![]() That right there is distracted driving. ![]() |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
