Yes, as a fellow 782D owner, buy the best you can get in that group size. Owning a small jump box is a good idea too. I often get mine started after its weekly rest using the jump box just to help things along. Once warmed up the battery is good to get it started and stopped throughout the day of using it.

Here's the list of what I did to mine to overcome the 82D starting blues, in order:
1 - Replaced OEM starter with a modern high-torque version 2 - Additional large gauge grounding wire ..... check, already had it. 3 - New ignition switch and added a bypass relay. This gets around the glow indicator on the dash (big current draw) and stops running high current through the IGN switch itself, which really increases its service life. 4 - Uprated glow plugs - I really noticed a difference once I did this last upgrade. Could have just been the accumulative effect of all the improvements pulling together, but these really seemed to turn the tractor into a very reliable starter. In fact, my 882D is the most reliable starter in my fleet. Not bad for a machine pulled out of a field it sat in for 15 years.
