I am not an engineer or expert. I was brainstorming on putting an oil cooler on a k-series Kohler.
Looking for pros and cons... Could I use a mechanical fuel pump to pump oil through an oil cooler? Perhaps by placing an NPT fitting in the sump of an oil pan, route it to the "fuel" pump, then back out to an oil cooler, then from the oil cooler to an NPT fitting on the block? One major question...is the pump strong enough for oil? Again, just brain storming...... ![]() |

Unnecessary.
Not likely the fuel pump will pump oil anyway. Nothing to gain. Too much involved for no gain. |

Why would you want to do this?
Run an 30 weight dino oil in it and it shouldn't have any problems. I use Kohler oil in all my K-series engines. There is something wrong-not set right if the engine is running hot.

I appreciate the feedback guys. No...engine running well. was just brainstorming. I think the best response was a lot of work with no gain.
