Default Got My 104 today!

So, I found a 104 on craigslist. The ad said not running. Ad also said looking to trade for a mover deck for a 108.. I traded with him straight up 104 with deck for a deck and carriage with mule drive.

The seller delivered it this morning and picked up his deck. There was no spark plug in it .. He did not seem to know how long it had been out for. I vaced out the plug hole. Spun the motor by hand. Pulled the valve cover to check that everything was free, cleaned tank, carb, put a battery and plug in it.

It fired up pretty easily and ran well.. The muffler is toast so it was loud but not horrible.

Tim! I wish I was a member at that other site you have the viking up in for ugly tractor or whatever it was.. This might give it a run for its money!

Also, I will get to try the easy off oven cleaner I think!

It is now lol.. The clutch was frozen. I started it in neutral of course, let it warm up. I stepped down and went to put it in first gear. Good thing I was only at 1/4 throttle. It popped into gear and started moving with foot still on clutch. No harm done. It startled me a little. Freed up the clutch pretty easily. Now it drives pretty good. All gears feel good. No funny noises. Will adjust the carb a bit more. Need to find a muffler now.

Good find, Coops! Lucky motor was free! Rear lift is a nice bonus! And it sure is an ugly runner!

Honestly, I was trading just becuase of the rear lift. The bonus to me is that it runs and moves.. now I gotta figure out what I want to do with it.

Nice pickup! It looks like it's in pretty good shape other than the red paint on it.

Once you get the muffler fixed you might find a lot of strange noises.

Looks good Coop. What are you lifting weights and working on cubs at the same time? I mean I knew you were a multi tasker but that takes it to a new level.

Even with the muffler blown out it really was not overly loud which kind of surprised me. It sounded pretty good. I won't run it much like this until I have some sort of muffler and an oil change.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
