Default Iso vs solid engine mounts?
1650 need engine mounts.

What are the pros and cons of doing solid engine mounts vs the ISO mounts?
How long does a new set of OEM mounts last?

I have a 1450 and I use the OEM Rubber Mounts and have NO issues.

BUT....it is your tractor, your time, your money, do as you see fit.

Thank you J-Mech. I have run a few forums and most definitely a "search first" guy.. I read a few threads including the one you linked but found them inconclusive. I *assumed* that I had missed the thread to end all threads. However now I see there are multiple issues, including just poorly balanced engines.

I had two machines, at the same time, both 14HP,,
one ran as smooth as a sewing machine,,
the other almost shook you off the seat.

The first one would be perfect with solid mounts, the second really needed factory ISO mounts.

The engine dictates the needs more than anything, that is why there are multiple answers that are given,,,

This is interesting. Do you have an idea why the one ran smooth?
My 1450 vibrated so I tried the solid mounts. It didn't seem to help and now I'm if the solid mounts may be causing other issues so I'm considering to reinstall the ISO mounts.

Both engines appeared to be "factory sealed" (never rebuilt) and I never opened them,,,
so, I have no idea why the difference,,,

I just ran them,,

The old engines were mounted solid and they were fine. I SO mounts aren't going to make any difference. Only thing they did, was make the rider more comfortable because the vibration was less to the frame. Didn't do anything to help the motor. Piss poor design in my opinion.

Jon,
I always figured Iso's came along right about the time there was push for noise regulations so they prolly helped, along with the covers on the sides of the engine compartment, I'm thinking the Db rating was less.
I never put a meter to work checking tho'
