Default What gear do you mow in?

I personally mow in first gear, but I was wondering if any of you guys run in second?

(Using a Cub Cadet 100/102/... anything with the standard three speed)

My 1200 has gear drive(with the lower gear set in the transmission) and I mow in second gear. I like the whine from the trans as it sounds like an M22 rock crusher tranny. I have been asked by several pullers to swap them the rear since these are the ones they like.

on the deere/farm tractor 5th gear = 4.9 mph, that coupled with the 72 inch deck makes quick work of the main area then i mop up the tight areas with the cc125 and on that i have a 48 inch deck, also have a 44 inch sweeper i just picked up to aid in fall clean up.

could get away with out using the cub but i never plan on getting rid of it, is a solid built tractor made when quality counted, and is a good back up incase of a break down, other people have classic cars i have a classic lawn tractor

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
