Cub Cadet 1650???
Hello everyone, I just wondering if anybody has anyone ever seen a 1650 with a manual lift? i just got one today that has it, but I thought they came standard with hydraulic lift. The machines serial # is 2050670U660079 and it appears to have been built AUG. 1979. The machine code 0670 is correct for a 1650 is this something to do with later production machines possibly?

The Manual Lift feature was NOT standard on the 1650. Someone has been doing some modifying of this tractor. Attached is from the Quietline Sales Brochure.

I've read they ran out of hydraulic lifts towards the end of the production run and fitted some with manual. From what I've heard, the dealer was supposed to upgrade to the hydraulic lift once they were back in stock. Of course that would require you to take your tractor back in for service, so I'm sure many tractors were never upgraded.
edit: This may have been with 169s the more I think about it.... edit:edit: Roland beat me to it.

Yes this 1650 has the ported pump but where the lift lines are supposed to go there are plugs. I knew the 169s and I believe some 147s had manual lift.
Little bit torn on what to do with it I bought it for the engine sight unseen and was pleasently suprised when I seen it is in nice shape body wise just parked cause starter was bad so now im hesitant to part it out thinking get it running put the right lift on it and go from there.

No matter what you do, dead heading the power beyond lines isn't good on the system. Unless the relief valve was replaced with the style that is meant to be in if the power beyond hydraulics are not used, then it's just pressuring up the relief valve and bypassing. This will cause excessive heat, and wear out the valve. When the 169's came out with the ported pump, but had manual lift, the valve had to be changed out to put the hydraulic lift in service. It's better to have the lines looped than to cap them.
