Default 1450 bad vibes

Hey everybody, I bought a 1977 model 1450 a couple of weeks ago and noticed it has a bad vibration around half throttle and some vibration at full throttle So got to checking motor mounts and drive shaft parts and pretty much every thing was wore out. I replaced all the ISO motor mounts and front snubbers and every driveshaft piece between the motor and transmission pump with factory cub cadet parts. So now my full throttle vibe is gone but I still have that bad mid range throttle vibe. The previous owner had rebuilt the motor about 6 years ago could he have got something put together wrong (would balance gears out of time cause this) ? I also have a 1973 model 149 and it doesnt vibrate near as bad as this 1450. Thanks for any input on this
Wally

Welcome!

That mid-range vibration is pretty common to the tractors with ISO-mounted engines. The mounts are designed to damp out the vibrations at full throttle.

Welcome aboard Wally67!

As Matt has pointed out vibes in the midrange area are typical for this line.

My 1450 vibes between 1800 - 1900 rpms very smooth at WOT and idle. It was the same before and after I rebuilt everything.

A few other thing you can look at is make sure the timing is correct. Also check your throttle shaft on the carb to make sure it not worn out and loose. This causes the fuel mixture to vary adding to some extra vibrations if its sucking air.

I owned a 1250, and it was the same way. It's just the way those cubs are. The QL's are nice tractors.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
