So I started to make my first lap around the yard for the first mowing of the season and the large pulley on the engine that runs the s/g literally came apart.
The center appears to have broke out and the two "halves" of the pulley look like all the spot welds left loose. ![]() So I have two questions. 1 How does the pto clutch come off? 2 Is the pulley still available new from Cub? I looked online and it looks to be obsolete or discontinued. Help!! |

I highly recommend you download the service manual, it will walk you through the steps of getting the pto clutch and bearing off. Here's a link to the manual

Ok thanks guys. I downloaded the manual long ago from here. I read the part on removal fine. I just wondered if there were any other tips or tricks to be offered by any of the members on here.

I didn't take a pic of the other side of the bearing. It looks just fine and so does the collar that is behind the bearing.

That's the beauty of those types of bearings with the locking collar
That is what you are looking at there. put the collar on the bearing and look through the hole, Now, hold the bearing steady and turn the collar while looking, self evident.. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
