In my other thread on the 1650 with loader I just bought I had to remove the head to replace a blown head gasket. Since I was this far I might as well replace the iso mounts so I removed the engine. I then seen that the drive coupling and flex disc joints needed replaced so I removed the driveshaft. Then yesterday I picked up a parts 1864 from member RLause, (Thanks Dick) and decided to use the power-steering and super steer axle from it on the 1650. I got the steering box mocked up yesterday evening and installed the front axle and steering cylinder. The axle slipped right in, and to mount the cylinder all I had to do was drill out an existing hole in the frame and drill one new one. Today I will make up the hydraulic lines and make a coupler for the steering shaft and mast jacket. I will get some pictures later today. I was surprised that it was almost a bolt in operation. Also I was able to modify the 1864 steering box bracket to use the existing manual steering box mounting holes on the frame. This is an easy swap for any wide frame tractor with a ported pump. I might just learn to like a quietline when I am done with this upgrade.
Keep you updated as I go. Tom |

Mm, your in no way the first one to put power steering on a quietline, however, I would be interested in seeing how the super steer axle looks on a ql.
Power steering is awesome! And the super steers are the best. You'll like!

Woodward makes the coupler you need. C109 is the part number. Then all you need is a section of muffler pipe expanded just enough to slip over the lower part of the steering box. Link to Woodward. http://www.woodwardsteering.com/

Adding power steering is one of the things I wanted to do to my loader tractor. I'll have to watch this thread to see how the power steering works.

Well I finished up the install of the 1864 power steering components yesterday and started running the hydraulic lines, the cylinder hose connected right up as expected and if I was to remove the lift cylinder the lines from the steering valve to hydro would also work with just adding a coupler and removing the return from the control valve tee. To save making all new steel lines I am thinking of eliminating the lift cylinder for now so I can get this finished up for now. With the weight box on the back the lift is not usable. If I decide to keep the loader on the 1650 and want a rear lift I can always add a rear lift cylinder in the back like I did on my 1872 project. Sorry no pictures yes as I left my phone in the shop last night.

I finished up the hydraulic lines for the power steering conversion today. I was able to reroute one of the lines and made a couple new ones and I now have the stock hyd control valve hooked up to the lift cyl. I had a nice visit from member Merk and his wife today. He wanted to get some measurements from the loader subframe for the loader install on his 149. Glad I was able to help him out. Here are the pictures, enjoy.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
