I started collecting and restoring antique farm equipment 30+ years ago. The term restored is extremely broad/far-reaching. The Cadet in question, well if it has a recently professionally rebuilt starter, and several NEW pulleys on the deck, he may not be too far off on price if you want to mow with it. I'm thinking $300 would be better. At best I would call it "fixed up/well cared for"-- restored, not so much.

Sad actually....hey not to derail, but after looking at that; mark, am I gonna be able to use the roundy fenders without having to change them in any way if I use the taller, or possibly custom made tunnel cover?? I'm hoping to stick that 1642 (or whatever It was ) alum rear with hyd lift, in a 72 and try to keep It from looking anything like that butchery in the add...?? Just wondering...probably one of those things I'll just have to cross when i get there...sorry, continue.........
So sad....someone get that away from him!! Well, have to low ball first I guess ![]() |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
