Default 1969(?) Cub Cadet 106

Cub Cadet 106 probably 1969

We got this from a neighbor about 8 years ago. My son and I fixed a stuck exhaust value to get it running again. We ran it occasionally for a few years. It's mostly sat in the garage since.

It has mower deck, but the belt is off. I've never run the mower.

I just replaced the battery. Some of the electrical wires are starting to break. It needs a new plug wire. The engine turns over but won't run unless I spray starter fluid into the carb. I cleaned out the carb, but unfortunately it needs to be rebuilt. There's a hole in the seat.

Since it's mostly been indoors, I think it's pretty good for a 47 year old machine.

Thanks!

The guys are right, that is a good looking 106.

If you were to spend a little time and a little money on it, you may find it to be a very useful piece of equipment.

Before you know it, you'll think you need another one (or 10).

@TerryC I think it is the original paint.

I had planned to repair this tractor, but that's going to happen soon.

I think it's time to find a new owner for it.

Are you trying to sell it here? Or are you just telling us about it?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
