If I'm not mistaken a QA-36 OR a QA-42 neither one will fit your 149.
You need a QA-36A or a QA-42A.

Yosemite Sam is right. Have you tried to mount it yet? The A at the end means adjustable. There should be different holes to make it fit a wide frame or narrow frame.

And NO. A QA36/42 will not fit a 149. It has to have the "A" at the end. |

I put a QA36 on a 129, it left a bit to be desired. I had to cut and widen the mount. Then when I got it on, It couldn't be raised up all the way or the chute would get into the hood. That's when I realized the grills on that series angled toward the front while the older Cadets angled toward the operator--hence the clearance problem. We left it on all winter, never got any snow so I sold it. Now we have a 122 and 124 Cadet

In relationship to snow throwers, 36 or 42 is the width (in inches) of the path the thrower cuts.
Post up some pictures of what you have there.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
