Default Sticky/faulty ignition switch on a 1970 147

Mine is hanging in the start position and would not send current to the starter solenoid today and it will not spring back to run. The terminals clearly needed cleaned and maybe that is the fault mode for not passing current but it is still sticking. I am tempted to spray a bit of penetrating oil into it. ?? I only ask since the only option for what I think is an exact replacement it on ebay for $50+ I don't want to drift from the original configuration but can't believe there is not a cheaper option if mine don't free up with lube.

i usually spray a little wd40 in them if they start sticking.

You should be able to free it up with a good penetrant oil as Tim mentioned. I use PB, but that's your choice...

If it is that bad.........in the long run you are better off replacing the switch.

Ok, I will scrape the terminals and lube it up and made it work again. Also, did IH stamp their own keys? Mine has John Deere stamped on the key and just seems wrong !! I have not come across any on ebay ??

IH used a Ignition Switch from Indak. That series of switches used a "stamped key". Thus, any Indak stamped key will work. IH, JD, or others, could request Indak to imprint their names on the key(s).

Watch eBay. You can find used switches pop up on there every so often. I think I saw two on there just last night. If you can't get it working properly after you clean it up, check it out. They are much cheaper than a new one.
