Default My 2.5 Originals

Howdy all!

In the my intro thread someone asked for pics.

I have 2.5 Originals. 1 running, 1 whole not running and .5 in pieces. Currently restoring 1 with my son(9 y/o). In the meantime he's having fun with the running one.

Here they are. Left is the .5 unit we were given for free from a very nice gentlemen for restoration. Middle is the non running one I picked up off eBay to help with restoration of partial unit. Right is the running unit we picked up recently at an equipment auction. I need to look up the date codes for all three still.

Gotta love those old girls. 55 + years old and still going. Try that with the crap they sell at TSC, Home Cheapo or Blows.

Thanks all!

The plan is to hopefully have the restoration done by August so that we can attend http://www.yesteryearfarmshow.org/ with a tractor.

Looks like the one we're going to restore is a '61, the other 2 have '62 date codes.

You have some good projects. They look like they are in pretty good shape and you can get 2 good tractors out of those. Please keep us updated and ask all the questions you wish. And we love pictures.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
