Default 129 PTO Handle
I just picked up a 129 and the lever that engages the mule drive is so worn that it will not disengage the drive. I had hopes of welding it up but I don't know how to remove it. The lever itself is not worn it is the dog that engages the notch that is worn. Any comments would help.

Are you talking about the spring loaded trip lever on the tractor that releases the quick attach on the front? Or the belt tensioner on the mule drive itself??

The lever on the left of the console that, I assume, engages the pto.

Ok, that is completely different than your post reads....

So, you need to adjust it? Did you try that?

Here is a link to the manual for your machine. Read up on PTO adjustment.

Yea, I am a little confused myself. Can't post pictures, so, the lever on the left of the console has a button to push down to disengage from a notch in the bracket that holds it. The pin, for lack of a better word, that engages the notch is badly worn and also twists enough that it will not keep the pto disengaged. I also have to hold the lever back to start the tractor. I now remember that there is a take up or adjustment in the rod that runs to the pto, I never thought about it before. I will try that next.

If the rod that is attached to the button is worn out, I'm not sure if it can be removed for repair or not. Never tried. If the notch that the rod goes in is worn, it will be a lot of work to get to it to repair. Either way, sounds like your going to have some work cut out for you to repair it. If we are talking about the same parts.

Why can't you post pics? Everyone can.....

You know the handle actually goes into a "pocket" when it's locked out of engagement? To engage you push the button and lift up on the handle and move it forward...

Are you thinkin of the 1X6/7 series?

On all of my Wide Frames the "trigger" is spring loaded like the manual lift handle. Down in the bracket it also looks very much like the lift handle at the bottom with a pin that fits in a notch to hold the handle back.

I have had one or two that had the same problem, the "pin" will twist forward and back. It makes adjusting the pto rock shaft difficult and the spring for the safety switch won't hold the button on the switch in, unless you pull the handle back when you turn the key.

I replaced the handles rather than trying to fix the old ones, I didn't look real close, but IIRC it doesn't look like it will come apart without cutting the weld at the bottom of the chrome handle and I don't know if you can get in there to weld anything without making a mess of the whole thing.

Well crap, I was hoping that you knew something that might make fixing those easier or better, I have a couple others that are a little loose and it will be just a matter of time before they start giving me trouble.
