Default 149 restore

Wanting to make my cub like this tractor. Do people cut the middle out of the hood extender and reuse or do they use the ones that are on a cub 800?

That is my tractor. I used a hood nose from a Quietline tractor (800,1200,1250,1450,1650).

Please don't use one from an 800..... If you have one of them, restore it.

Sorry to post your tractor. I only ask because if people used the original nose piece I was going to buy another and keep mine so that I have all the original parts. This tractor was handed down from a good friend that was practically my dad growing up and he is a big ih guy and wanted to surprise him.

Don't be sorry for posting pics of my tractor. I don't mind. I started a thread titled "149 Restofication" with lots of pics along the way.

That's awesome. I can't wait to do more with mine. Motor being sleeved now, sandblasted soon. Also in the process of making a 4 wheel wagon to go along with it.

I cut the middle out of this one. It's on a wide frame.

Here's how I did mine. (Inspired, like you, by IHinIN's project). Mine is a 14 hp gear drive (hence 148) modeled after the IH 1066.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
