1250 hydro lever adjustment
My 1250 hydro lever is a little tight, causing a herky herky ride when moving forward or backwards. To smooth out the lever do I just loosen the big nut under the tower or should I use some silicone spray on it? Just want lever to not take as much effort to move back and forth.

Just loosen that nut. There's a friction disc in there, so I'd keep oils off of it just in case. When I picked up my 169 it had rusted to the friction disc and you couldn't move it, but with a little wrenching it works as it should. I keep messing with it trying to figure out just how tight I want it; the book says 7-12 pounds of torque to move the handle.

Yup- too loose and pulling something heavy (or plowing etc) it'll just go right back to neutral and you'll have to hold the lever and drive. Too tight and it makes it extremely uncomfortable to use. Dad's 125 hydro lever is super tight and after an hour of mowing with it (for me) my hand was sore.
