I have a 2082 that seems to have issues bogging down when I turn the steering wheel or put the unit under stress i.e. when going up a steep incline mowing; I'm sure there is a valve sticking within the hydraulics but not quite sure where to start. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!
On a separate note I purchased this unit with a hood that was broken at the mounts. Previous owner had tried to bondo and fiberglass but it didn't work. Does anyone have another solution, if not it looks like I will be trying the same fix. |

Change the hydro fluid and filter.

Do you mean the engine is bogging or the tractor ground speed slows?

Engine bogs down and will quit if I don't slow down or straighten wheels.

It could be governor related. Check if the governor arm came loose.

What happens if you pull the choke out a little when this happens? Try it.

Governor is good, can't really put under to big of load until mowing season starts. I suppose I'll change fluids and perform spring srfvice and what until the season begins.

How do you know the governor is good? Did you readjust it? No way to know just by looking.....
Did it start this issue suddenly? Or always been this way? You still haven't convinced anyone if it's an engine problem. The part where you turn the wheels and it pulls down doesn't make sense. Even if there is an issue with the hydraulics, it shouldn't pull that big of an engine down. I'm going to assume you have a bad motor issue. As in, I'm surprised it will pull a deck. It's either that, or you are not describing the issue very clearly. Maybe a video of it doing it's thing would help. ![]() |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
