I was at a customers house yesterday and noticed a cub 108 with a mower deck setting off to the side with some taller grass around it. so I asked what he was doing with the ol'tractor and as soon as he said nothing it just sit's there I offered him $50. he said it would probably be a deal but he had to check with his wife first. well he called me today and said to come and get it. so i'll be picking it up this weekend. I didn't look it over to good as not to give him the impression that it was worth something. I did notice that its got a pair of IH wheel weights and a fairly new starter generator. so I guess I won't lose money on the deal. pic's will be along soon.
also have my eye on a 1x9 at another customers house that's sitting in the hedgerow, just got catch him home. maybe I can get that one for $50 to ![]() |

$50 for a complete Cadet? That's a better bet than buying lottery tickets!

Great pick on the 108! My dad got my 1872 when he was tearing down houses and asked about it to the family. It had been under a tarp for about 3 years but we got it running pretty quickly after we got it home. Didn't pay anything for it, but it did have to get the hydro resealed, and I'm going to have to get the steering column redone.

I got the 108 home today, i had to have a little help getting it up the hill. got the battery charger on it for a few minutes. turns over when i jump the solenoid but not the key. i'll have to look into that. sparkplugs missing, air cleaners loose, and the gas tanks full, time will tell what went wrong with it. oh yeah the batteries dated 5/13 so it hasn't been sitting to long. first pic is how i found her, the rest are upon arrival home.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
