Hello all, can anyone tell me what this is in my differential? It is like a paraffin, what will cut it? Gasoline doesn't do much, brake cleaner doesn't do it. Looks like this might be fun to clean.

I don't know what it is, but I cleaned it out of the 147 I'm foster-parenting with a pile of dry blue paper towels and elbow grease.

Yeah I'm afraid that's what it will take to clean it out. It's just gonna be a bigger job than I was anticipating. Oh the Joys' I pulled the Rear out from under the 1650 because of a broken bolt to the frame and now I m in up to my elbows.

Its not really hard, it's just the waxy remains of hytran that has absorbed moisture. I ll just have to break out the parts brush, kerosene and a catch basin.

Have you tried Super Kleen? It is a degreaser. Use it straight, undiluted.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
