Question A Couple of Really Basic Questions

They say the only dumb question is the one unasked, so let's put that to the test:

What's a spring assist?

What's a sleeve hitch?

I hear about these over and over and can't make hide nor hair of them by just guessing.

A spring assist goes on the manual lift handle and helps lift heavy stuff like plows and blowers, the sleeve hitch is a lift for the rear so you can use a plow or rototiller.

Spring assists are for people who can't afford hydraulic.

These are the available spring assists for the NF Cub cadets

You have a 122 listed. Since it's a manual trans, you can use both the Brinley spring assist and the IH spring assist on your 122 ( provided you have the rear lift--The Brinley attaches to the rear lift arm )

Here is the heavy duty sleeve hitch adapter I make with both drilled and slotted lift straps plus lift pins

Nice hitch, and thanks for the pix.

Is a rear lift the same as a three-point?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
