Default What's the going rate for an unrestored 100?

I found a 100 that needs restored that I am thinking about buying, but I don't know what a fair price would be. I know prices vary by region and condition of the machine, but maybe if a few people chime in I can get a general idea. The guy hasn't sent me pics, he wants $200 for it, he said it's complete and needs restored. Any help is appreciated

Kip

If it is solid and complete I would not be opposed to paying $200.

Even for a Plain Jane 100, $200.00 doesn't sound bad if it's all there and the engine isn't stuck/broke/disassembled. It's even better if the engine runs.

He said it doesn't have the creeper gear, and I haven't heard if it runs yet. He is supposed to call me in the morning.

Here are some pics. What do you guys think?

He said "The engine was off of the tractor when I bought it. It turns over and has compression. I pulled the head off and the cylinder looks good."

That's what I thought, plus it's 350 miles one way from me. I probably wouldn't give more than $50 for it in the shape it's in.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
