| Driving a hydro with the S/G

So as I've been trouble shooting I noticed that if while the S/G is turning over I hit the Forward on the ground speed that the tractor will move. I suppose this makes sense as the shaft is spinning from the S/G. Does this harm anything? Is it normal for a hydro to be able to do this?

One of the reasons they come from the factory with a neutral safety switch is so that you can't do that. Not really sure why anyone would want to do that anyway?! |

So I should assume that my Neutral Safety switch is bad or bypassed... it might come in handy if the thing ever shut down on you... I know I once drove my landcruiser using the starter out of an intersection... do you think it would damage the hydro unit?

ALSO...when you depress the brake pedal to satisfy the Neutral Safety Switch, it is suppose to automatically place the hydro in the neutral position. Sounds like some devices are out of adjustment.

I does... however the brakes were horribly out of adjustment... I fixed those tonight... if the engine was running and you were on an incline with the hydro in neutral the tractor would start rolling down hill... YIKES!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
