After redoing all of the associated ISO-mount stuff on my buddy's 1450 a few years ago (which is still working and running great) and having owned 2 1250s and very nice 1450, I decided to take a BTDT approach and swear off all future Quietline purchases. However... this 1650 with attachments came up (5 hours round trip smack in the middle of rush hour, no less) and I decided to bite. I was really after the #2 tiller, but I got everything you see (and even some stuff you don't see) for little more than market rate for a complete tiller setup. Of course I'm missing the long belt and mule drive with the solid pulleys, but everything else is there and the tiller spins free and was stored inside. I haven't had a minute to even get everything off the trailer yet, but visually the tiller looks pretty good from others I've seen for sale. I'm still debating, but I think it will wind up on my worker 125 with hydro lift, so I would have had to get a new belt anyway. I have a couple of spare mule drives, so I may just need to track down some solid pulleys and threaded-bolt tension adjusters.
The other goodies include a lightly used snowplow, chains in an IH burlap bag (nice!) and a PECO Vac that is responsible for the sooty fender and melted right-side taillight ![]() The 1650 itself needs to be completely gone through. I was pleasantly surprised to find the motor mounts to be solid and secure and the muffler box to be in great condition. The 50A deck looks promising and spins free and quiet but that's all I know about it for now. The X factor is that the tractor threw the driveshaft for some reason. Broke the adapters on each end and tore up the flex discs. Put some unsightly bends in the hydraulic lines and punched a hole in the hydro filter. I had expected the ISO mounts to be shot and the motor pitched at a jaunty angle that would have caused this, but no, it's right where it's supposed to be. The input shaft on the hydro pump spins free, so I'll just have to put it all back together and see how she runs with a good shaft installed. I'll get the tractor pulled down to the frame and power-washed and cleaned up over the next week and see what I have to work with. I think there's good bones under the dirt and grime and soot, and if the ISO mounts truly turn out to be good, I'm several steps ahead in this project. It did come with the side panels and tunnel cover, and it still has the belt guard for the tiller attached to the tranny. More pics to follow once I get her unloaded...

Congrats on the score. I was in the middle of getting directions from the seller when he told me he had just sold it. I was waiting for it to show up on the site. For the price you paid it was a great deal "maybe even a Lew deal". Like you, I was after the attachments, the tractor was a bonus. Glad it want to an OCC member. ![]()

The driveshaft didn't break the steering box ?? That is another thing the driveshaft usually gets. |

Great find, Tom! Despite what many say, I think a Quietline is a great tractor, once the ISO mounts are installed properly and adjusted to the machine after break-in.
I wish I could find a tractor deal so well accessorized. You made out well. |

Hey, all:
I did indeed manage to be the early bird on this one. Mind you, I've had plenty of deals slip away from me over the years so I was happy to have the chance to act on this one. And yes, it was a brutal 5 hour trip from Baltimore to Northern Virginia (Manassas) right in the middle of rush hour to ensure that I could put my hands on it, but its been worth it so far. I got everything pulled apart and power-washed yesterday. The tractor cleaned up well, but I am going to do a full upgrade/replacement of the engine cradle and ISO mounts. It had lost one motor mount bolt, and another was loose, so the rails were definitely beginning to spread, as evidenced by the wear on the axle crossmember in the photo. I'm ordering the $28 set off ePay today, and I'll be on the hunt for a piece of steel stock to do the engine cradle mod since the pre-fabbed cradles are NLA from Patton Acres. I need to inspect the oil pan itself today and determine if the motor mount holes are clean enough to proceed with or if I should get a cast iron pan while the motor is out and everything is accessible. The 50A deck is in really good shape and is just missing a grease zerk on the left spindle. Remember I said the guy gave me a bunch of belts that I really couldn't figure out what they were for? Turns out is WAS the long belt for the tiller, it was just coiled and twisted up to look like 3 belts ![]() It looks like the driveshaft adapter on the tranny end had been cracked for a while judging by the different rust on the two adapters, and eventually let go and caused the front one to fail and the flex discs to rip out. The hydro filter was cracked and cocked and I feared it may have damaged the mounting threads on the tranny, but all was well after I got it off. I had a spare CC filter on hand from a previous project and once I installed it, there were no more Hy-Tran leaks. So, I'll be chasing parts down this week and next, getting the cradle mod fabbed up, and no doubt a trip up to Ray Weaver's for all of the other stuff to make this a nice tractor again.

You couldn't pay me enough to make that trip in rush hour traffic. That place (No.VA.) is a zoo. I grew up in Alexandria. DC Beltway @ rush hour=misery.
Rural central VA is soooo much more relaxed... But glad it worked out for you! I've seen some cub cadets advertised on Craigslist in Ellicott city. Is that you?
