Default Voltage Regulator????
Hey guys, I was wondering about the "V/R".. I have seen a lot of videos of people jumping kohlers with a S/G. But I am not seeing the V/R. What does this thing really do than if it is not needed for the starting of the engine??

It is a Starter / Generator. It is used to start the engine and once the engine is running, it serves as a Generator to produce electricity to handle the electrical demands of the tractor, as well as, recharge the Battery. The recharging processing is regulated by the Voltage Regulator (V/R). to prevent the battery from being overcharged.

All this is explained in the Service Manual.

Crown do you have a wide frame? I see you have a quiet line which doesn't have a V/R but your wide frame does if you have one. It's under the seat

I have a 129(in parts), 1250, and an "O". 129 and the "O" have them, 1250 yup, that little thing.. The 129 was not working when I got it.. right now the engine is out and wanted to try it out.. See if it runs kinda thing.. I just didn't know if the V/R was needed in the mix for jumping. Or if it should be in the mix..

If you want to "bench test" the engine.........then the V/R is not needed.
