Congrats! How well does it run? Plans to refurbish or use as is?

She smokes a tad bit. Not too familiar with a 7hp kohler. Seems to lag in rpms but runs good. I may do a future refurb. Just so excited to get an O and have wanted one for so long

No cut outs for the steering or creeper , back wheels , hood decal , all indications of an early O.

It is also nice to find one with a deck , all the O's i see have no decks or they are rusted beyond repair.

Nice find !!!

I'd say you're right Brandon. I mean, if you paid $250 for the tractor alone (good price) you'd still have to locate a deck ($150-$250). And, a LOT of those little items you have would co$t you to find again.

I think you did good in finding one in this condition, and as you said, the price was fair for all involved. Great to see you know its history, and I'm sure its future is in good hands.

Agreed. OP do you have a 4 digit serial? I haven't looked at the chart yet when the serial break was from 4 to 5 digit

Nicely done Brandon!!! Looks like it is in very good "original" shape. As you said, well worth the money. Wondering what serial number it is?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
