It has a kohler 241as engine.
I rebuilt the carter model n carb with kohler parts after I soaked the carb for 24 hours. I am getting spark. I got it to run for a little while, but it wouldn't idle so that's why I rebuilt the carb. It seems to be flooding. I can see fuel coming out the carb when the air cleaner assembly is off. My main (top) screw is backed out 2 turns and the idle (side one) is backed out 1.5 turns. I noticed that the long main needle has a hairline crack in it and I wondering if this is the issue. I verified that the float is working and that the needle and seat stop the fuel when pressed up. It has a new spark plug and new air filter as well. Any help appreciated.

You did something wrong when you re-built it. Sounds like the needle is not seating if you have gas running out of it. I'm going to move this to the engine section for you.

thanks.
I pulled the bowl and when I press up on the float, the needle seats and stops the fuel flow. When I let go, fuel flows. I shook the float and verified that it doesn't have gas in it.

Put the float in a container of water and see if it floats level.

Did you adjust the float level like it tells you to do in the manual?

Here is a picture of the float in some gas. It's not perfectly level, but it is floating for now. I will leave it overnight and see what happens.
I'll start looking for a new main needle. thanks, everyone.

from your picture, it looks to me like it's about to sink.
Dry it off really well w/a paper towel. then inspect it carefully if there is gas in it, it should be come evident before too long where it is leaking from, probably a pin hole you can't even see but you will notice it becoming wet at that spot after moving it around, back and forth and turning it over and back. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
