IH cub cadet 147
Hello, I've been reading about all your cubs for 3 or 4 days now, and I've been given the green light to post my situation.
I picked up another IH 147 the other day, its a good solid machine, rugged. However, the wiring harness was shot and it had been left for a couple of years with the gas still in the system, lines, carb etc. So I replaced the harness and put a carburetor on from a running 147. The thing fired up immediately, so quickly in fact that it actually gave me a start. It ran great for about 2 minutes and then died like it ran out of gas. Over and over, so I put a rebuilt carb on there. Now it will only run at a low idle, as soon as I give it the gas it dies. Does anybody know what is going on?

Welcome to OCC!
Sounds like it's starving for fuel. Did you clean the tank out, clean the screen on the fuel shutoff, and replace the fuel line? If not, I would start there since you have a known good carb on it. The only other thing that comes to mind is it's cold, I need to let both my cubs run just off idle to warm up a few minutes before throttling up without a stutter or dying. Bill

First, welcome to OCC
 Since you already replaced the Carb and it ran, I would venture to say you have a "fuel delivery" problem. I would suggest that you look at the fuel flow starting at the tank all the way to the carb. Make sure it is free flowing.

I agree with the guys, check your fuel delivery. Hopefully it is blocked/clogged before the carburetor, it is possible that the fresh fuel washed a bunch of crud down onto the top of the needle and seat where the fuel line goes into the carb. If this is the case, you will most likely need to take the carb. off and wash it out from the bottom side of the seat. Good luck.
