Default Request for wiring diagram & advice

Long story short, I've got a 782 I picked up with the intent of doing a Command swap with...when I found a Command. Well, the time may be here; I found a Command locally with 1100 hours from a friend that I know runs fine (no smoke, starts right up, etc). The guy has it priced at $200 which I don't think is too bad (considering I'm also getting the elusive Cyclops blade lift bracket and a Cyclops blade subframe). Anywho, when doing some research on this swap, I came across a wiring diagram on this site for the project. I knew I should have saved it because now I cannot for the life of me find it. So I wanted to see if anyone on here happens to have the wiring diagram for a 782 KT to Command swap?

And while I'm at it, I've also got a couple other questions

For those that have done it, any advice?

Is it better to use the KT engine plate or the Command?

Did you have to raise the engine at all to make it line up with the hydro?

What did you do for a drive shaft?

I can use the Command muffler, correct?

Did you have to do anything with the firewall to make it fit/seal?

Alright, that's all I've got for now Thanks guys!

Ryan, this is my repower thread. It will address most of your questions. The ones it doesn't, I need to know what the CH you got came out of? That affects a number of things.

Roland,

I'm not 100% positive what serial my 782 is. I WANT to say it's pre 720,000 as I'm told it's a somewhat early 782 (I do know it's 100% IH) but I will check for sure when I get home.

Thanks Travis! I will give that thread a good read when I get home, if I start at work now I won't get anything done

As far as the Command, it's coming out of an 1864 donor so it's a Cub spec'd motor

1864 is GOOD!! Mine was from a 2000 series so the muffler was a no go. The $240 muffler is what is holding me up. I keep looking but can't find one. I would use the mount plate that comes with the CH. Do a Sam Mac 2000 drive shaft.

I haven't sealed the firewall yet since I don't have a hood or sides on yet. I will use the roll plastic like I did on the 2072 repower. The 782 firewall doesn't have the 3 tabs like the 2072 did though, so a little more fab work will be involved.

Can you get the wiring harness too? Was this the tractor you just bought and sold an hour later?

When you say Sam Mac 2000 driveshaft, I started wishing he just made and sold them so I could simply order one

And no, I cannot get the wiring harness. The guy that got the 1864 from me (and yes it was the one I got then sold an hour later) is, unless something changes, selling the engine to me and the entire rest of the frame, rear, etc to someone else. This is one of those things I wish I had kept, could have had a $350 1864 with blade, deck, weights, and chains But anyway, I'm going to try to get the driveshaft as well but I don't know if that'll happen. The driveshaft is my biggest unknown at this point as far as how I'm going to do it.

You would still need to take the measurements. A 1/4" either way on those shafts would have problems. And as far as using the 1864 shaft, you will still need to get an adapter from Sam.

I'm kicking you too for getting rid of it!!

LOL, Ryan! On a serious note I just searched for my muffler again, and bought one for less than $50 shipped. The 782 will soon look like a tractor again!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
