Default the 1210.....

This was a CL find. I picked it up on Monday. It sat for 5 years so I had to clean the tank, carb, new lines, a new driveshaft, and I was back in business. It came with a good 44" deck. I may change the rubber mounts as there is vibration at mid throttle, but none at WOT.

That is a nice one. Is the 1210 the same as a 1282 as far as the drive-train?

Lew

Congrats on a great find. The 1210 is what got me started on OCC. I bought a new 1210 and did things with it that couldn't be done and it never objected. Yep they do shake, think QL when it comes to engine mounts. This is the one I owned.

Great looking 1210s! How does the 12hp do in heavy work like tall grass or big towing jobs?

Tommy: The "K" series engines are not like the junk 12hp's you get now. They were very large CI motors for the HP. I have a 10HP (A 1050, looks just like the 1210 but the 1050 is gear drive.) I ran a 50" deck with it until this year. (I put a 44" on this year.) Granted, you can't feed it as fast as you can a twin cyl 18HP, but it still cuts the grass. One more note, the 1050's engine is lets just say.... tired.

Thanks Mr. Sam,I see yours is a later model, guessin' it has a Magnum instead of a K series AQS motor.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
