Default 1864 running warm question

my 1864 seems to get warmer than it should under normal operating conditions. or so I am thinking. After running for 20-30 minutes you cannot touch the dip stick, also will spit and sputter when under load sometime when it appears hot. Any remadies out there ? thank you in advance

What oil are you using? When was the last time you pulled the tins and cleaned the cooling fins up from grass debris, junk, and gunk? How many hours are on this motor? What are you doing when it "overheats"? Gotta give us some more info

the tractor has 475 hours ... bought from a cub dealer in July I am assuming it has kohler # 30 in it . it feels like decent air flow when you stand at the front of the tractor, but I need to pull the shrouds off and do some investigasting.

after mowing every time it gets blown off completely, engine compartment, deck , and everywhere I can put the 3 ft air extender. The thing that puzzles me is , that this is by far the cleanest tractor I have ever bought.

It running lean. Pull the carb and clean it. Probably junk in the bowl. Might as well go ahead and clean the fuel system out. Drain the tank.... . You know the drill. If you find small bits of rubber, replace the lines and fuel pump. I promise, it's junk in the carb. Glad to see you keep your machine clean. Oh, on the timing thing, no it's not adjustable on a Mag. Can't be changed.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
