Default Couple of 1864 questions

I have a chance to buy a non running 1864 cheap, within 50 miles of me, it's suppose to be complete.
First question, what engine does the 1864 have? I know that my 1862 has a Magnum engine.
Second, will most parts from an 1864 interchange with an 1862?

If it doesn't run, you may be better off passing on it. In fact, I see it's in Illinois, why don't you just tell me where it is and I'll go ahead and "get rid of it" so no other unsuspecting buyer takes a chance on it

Seriously though, the 1864 is a very solid machine. The 1863/1864 is the newer version, the replacement, for the 1861/1862. The big changes are the engine (the 1863/1864 have the Kohler Command 18hp motor in them instead of the Magnum 18hp found in the 1861/1862) and the front axle, which was changed to allow sharper turning (and I believe it's a bit taller, as well). As for what will interchange, everything outside the engine and wiring harness should swap from one machine to the other.

Now, how about some pics!!

Ryan I haven't seen it yet and the seller hasn't posted any photos. When I go look at it, I take the camera along.
Thanks for the rep

Call me if you don't want it! I've been wanting to convert a 1641 to the Sunstrand and power steering.

Seller sold it on me. He was suppose to hold it until I could look at it Saturday. He works day and I work afternoons and evenings, so Saturday was the only time we could get together. He called tonight and said it was sold. Not much you can do about it

I know the feeling. BTDT.....

But on the other hand, cash talks. As many times as I've been stood up, if I had someone standing there with cash...... Well, it is what it is.

At least he was a gent and called you. Many wouldn't have bothered to inform you that it had been sold.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
