Moved into this house couple months ago. Has some large old maple trees, and they shed the dead limbs continuously. The past occupants have piled them at the side of the yard, for many years. An unsightly mess. After the corn field harvest, is a good time to move the mess into the field for burning, before the next crop is planted. So, out comes the cub. Used a chain, to move the biggest part of the mess, then the blade for the rest.

If you're referring to that bar, it's the handle for the manual rear lift. That is a Sears type sleeve hitch.
Nice Cub! |

Yep, it's the lift from a sears tractor, highly modified for the Cub. It's one of those "temporary-for-ever", mods. But, it let me plow the garden, with the Sears/Brinly plow. And, that was the immediate need. Here are the "before and after" in reverse order.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
