Default Brakes on a 104

The brakes on the 104 that I brought home this week don't work. I ordered a manual for the tractor, but it won't arrive until mid-week. I won't do much with it until the manual arrives and I can see what I am doing. Just curious if you guys can give me an idea what I am getting in to. Any secrets or tips from those that have been there, done that?

Is this brake system the "internal brake"....???

BTW....all the Manuals for the 104 are in our Technical Library Section.

Ok, forgive my newbie ignorance, but which manual in the tech section do I want? I don't see the 104 listed.

In the middle of canning tomato juice, I was able to adjust the brakes and get them working. The downside is that there was almost zero adjustment left and I pretty much bottomed out the adjustment bolt. So although they are working fine now, I figure it is only a matter of time before I have to go a bit deeper to make a repair.

It might not be as soon as you think, the wet brakes last a LONG time.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
