Default PTO woes

I have a 149 that stopped running earlier this year, and I swapped the engine from a 147 into it, and have been using it to just tow things around when needed, well, winter is coming and I have used the 149 for the snowblower, so I hooked it up today, and seems that the pto is running all the time, and the snowblower with it. I looked in the archives to try to find out how to adjust it, went back to the barn and things don't look like they do in the drawings in the archives. The first two pics I'm including are what is in the 149 as it sits now. the third pic is the pto that was on the engine that I took out of the 149. Any help? thanks

The 147 Motor has the older style pto setup to be used without the brake
The 149 frame has the brake lever, you'll need an old style lever to actuate the PTO

Edit: You could also just swap the PTO's from the old 149 motor to the 147 Motor

Sound like the best solution.

The early 149s had old style PTO. The newer style PTO has a brake built into it.

I do not know when Cub Cadet change to the newer style PTO.

I think it was '74 when the newer style with brake started appearing, not for sure of the month, though.

yesterday I swapped out the lever from another 149 that I have as my parts tractor's already was missing. The one in the pics came out real easy, not so easy on the other, but it's in and needs to be finished.

finished up today and everything is back together. Didn't take any time putting the hood or nose piece back on and the hood is crooked but it's on and it will work. Pic is of the new lever.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
