I finally have gotten back on the 126 project. During disassembly the left hand spindle broke. Since that happened I was thinking about upgrading both to 4 lug wheels with 1" spindles. I know that some of you have already done this, so could you guys tell me how? The best parts? Best place to find said parts? I'm dumping a ton of cash into this thing and could afford to save wherever I can. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks

You can go to them, but I really don't think it's necessary. I've broke both the 3/4" and the 1" spindles. I don't think unless your going to be adding weight to the front (I.E. suitcase weights, loader) you need them.
That said, you can switch to the front axle off a WF. Or, make your own.... Or extrememotorworks.com sells them. If you buy the 1" spindles, you can use the hubs off a Lo-boy, they'll fit. But then your going to have a 5 bolt hub, with some silly looking big tires on it. Most of the guys that do this mod do it to a super. For the bigger machine, it makes sense. On a GT, I wouldn't waste the money for a hub style wheel, or the 1" spindles TBH. Just my ![]() |

The plan is to put a loader on it. Either buy or build one, most likely build simply because they are hard to find down here. Since I'm rebuilding now it only makes sense to to the upgrade now rather than later.

A front axle off of a 1535, or early 1541,1641, 1440 etc... will fit and have 1" spindles. Overall the axle will be an inch or two wider.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
