2082 Hydrostat Creeping / needs adjustment
I'm not new to Cub Cadets, but I am new to this site. Hope I can get some needed info. I have an 1864 and a 2082. Both are awesome machines. I just got the 2082 late last year and am just now messing with it. When I depress the left brake pedal to start the engine, the hydrostat control moves slightly rearward. So when the engine starts, it starts moving back. The hydrostat control is also hard to move forward and rearward and seems like it has a "catch" in it somewhere. I've had the 1864 since new and it is smooth when moving it forward and back without any "catch" or interference. I don't want to make it worse so I haven't messed with it yet. I want it back like original or similar to my 1864. Any advice? Thank you in advance.

the hydrostat handle has a tension bolt at the bottom of the steering tower,try loosening the tension a little and see if it smooths up. The creep is adjusted on the trans. Take the tunnel cover off, the linkage from the control handle attaches to the bracket on the pump, this bracket is bolted to the pump by 2 9/16s head bolts.jack up the rear of your tractor,loosen these 2 bolts and bump the mounting plate up or down slightly with the tractor running till the pedal centers the hydo without creeping.

The "catch" sounds like something may be worn excessively. I would take the tunnel cover off and watch the linkage while moving the lever. Also you can feel the linkage for slop. A little is normal but if its excessive you may need to do some shimming:

It's kind of a trick to get both in the correct position.
