Default Cub Cadet 104

First tractor buy of 2014 is this tidy 104. It was listed for sale back in the fall, but no one bit, and the man put it away for the winter. I was not in a position to purchase it at the time. I wrote down the info before the ad expired as I though it looked to be in great original condition. I called the seller last week and we were finally able to get together today and do business. It was garage-kept for the winter, too!

Has a nice 42" deck and an extra shifter-thingy that makes the tractor go real slow. Custom home-made wheel weights. Maybe I'll ship them to Lew COD The headlights and tail light were there, but no wiring other than the factory lead for the headlights. Also missing the hood brace. But it runs great and most of the little stuff is all there (I did add the reflectors and make a seat swap). Today's eval included a general wipe-down and wiring up the lights. Looks like the front tires and rims were replaced at some point as it has inward facing valve stems. Steering is loose in the front axle knuckle; that's one repair I haven't done yet - going after that roll-pin or working on that knuckle. I can live with it for now.

Do you guys think my breather for the creeper is a little long? Did some of them come with extensions? I don't remember the breathers on my other tractors being as tall.

Thanks! I love the original stuff! As it's been said on here, it's only original once. Now I just have to find a nice 124 and I'll have the full set of 1x4/5 tractors.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
