Default 169 Repair

I started some long overdue repairs to my 169,leaking cork gasket on the hydro, sloppy trunnion, and worn out brakes.I ordered the parts from cub classics, now all I have to do is clean everything and start putting it back together, the only bad thing is I have to work on it out in the tool shed because the garage is full of non cub projects.

Say, Pauld, you got the brakes from cub classics??? Were they new or good used take offs? My 129 needs brake work in a bad kind of way. The pads are still available from Cub Cadet, but I haven't been willing to spend $38 each for the pads. Being it's a hydro and not a gear drive, I've been able to get along without them for the mean time, but I really should do something.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
