Default It was the best of days, it was the worst of days

Bought a restored 1000, along with a pair of IH wheel weights, 44" restored deck, 36" snow thrower, 42" IH blade, tire chains, 3 point hitch, brinly sleeve adapter, creeper gear, lights, at least 15 manuals & brochures, and a lot of extra parts (including original gear shift). Had a wonderful drive and even saw this really cool mansion (see picture). The guy didn't want to sell this cub, but it was on Epay without reserve and I got lucky, so he enjoyed one final drive to load it onto my trailer. When I got it home to unload it, I rolled my ankle over a rut in the yard and had to go to the ER room. After several hours there--crutches for me and my brother had to finish the unload, so I never got to drive the cub at all. I'm going to be out of commission for several days, but it isn't broken!! Good day/Bad day...

Looks like you got a GREAT deal on that 1000 (not counting the ER costs...). It's very nice. I can see why the guy didn't want to part with it for that price. I think I'll have 6 or 7 times that in my 1000 by the time I'm finished.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
