Default What cub cadet do I have ?

Hello everyone. I bought this cub from a tractor junkyard across from my house. It's a WF gear drive but has the 4x8 skinny front tires on it. No engine or tin. Just curious what I have. Will send pictures tomorrow morning.

Your sig says you have a 70, a parts 123, 125 and a 582 Special.

What kind of game is this.....

The description you posted leaves me to think that you have found a: 86, 108, 128, 800, 1000, 1200, or possibly an 1100. Those are all wide frame gear drives that were available with skinny front tires. Oh...coincidentally, that's all the wide frame gear drives that were made.

The rear tag is number 224201. Not sure if that helps or not. The tractors listed in my sig are the ones that I own jmech.

That's a narrow frame cub, not a wide frame. Serial number looks like January of 68 which will make it a 104 or 124.

Without the tunnel, it could also be a 72.

Am I correct in thinking that the gear shift for a 104/124 is bent differently than the one in the op's picture?

That looks like a gear shift from a 72 to me.

Thanks guys. I was totally off on that, makes me feel better knowing it's a narrow frame. My apologies to you Jonathan.
My plan is to put 26x12x12s on the rear and a super steer front axle under it. It will be a long restoration so I'm taking my time to do it right.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
