Default Ever seen an Original with Clam-shell style fenders?

Well, you HAVE now!

I found these fenders off of an old 40 John Deere. They had some wear on them and they were painted yellow (of all colors) over top of the green. They've got some wear and tear on them but the patina matches my Original to a T.

I mounted them onto the axles with some 3/4-inch square stock and U-bolts. There was an angled mount on the bottom side that I attached the square stock to and with the U-bolts, they are surprisingly solid. I plan to run a piece of steel or rod between them, like the factory cub fenders used.

My brother was there when I bought them and when he saw how they fit the tractor, he said, "I didn't think it'd be that EASY!"

They looked small on the big wheels of the 40, but with the bottoms cut off, they fit the smaller tires of the cub just right. Best part is, total cost $40!
I like them because they are different. I guess it suits my personality.

Nice work Andy. Looks like you've been doing some painting too. You're new addition is coming along nicely

Wow that looks really good. I pass on a lot of originals because they are missing the fenders and I just don't like the look. Way to be creative!!! That looks great

Looks great. Only Cub fanatics would know those aren't OEM.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
