Could someone explain the date code sticker please?
Like the title says, could someone explain the info on the date code stickers? This really doesn't pertain to a specific model that I have, but I would like to know more about the codes. Maybe this would be a good subject for the technical library forum.
What I know (or think I know) is: The letter at the beginning stands for the month it was built. A=Jan. B=Feb. etc. The first two numbers are the day of the month the machine was built. The third number is the last digit of the year built. The last letter is the factory it was built in??? My questions are: Did they skip any letters for the month like I or J like some manufacturers skip with part numbers or did they just use A thru L for the month of build? Did CCC start this as soon as they took over? Was the same style always used for the code or did they change the format at some point? What were the different factories where they were built? Does anyone know how early they started to build the next model year? That last one is more specific to my 1211, because it looks like it was built Dec.17, 1986. I was under the impression that they were introduced in 1987 and I assume this was a pre-build to have them ready for 87. Thanks, Geoffrey

Sure is! I didn't know that existed. I must have been searching for the wrong thing or something, because I had never found that.
Is that posted somewhere or in a manual that I should be looking for?
