Default Tire Chains

Just curious, what's the going price for new tire chains in your area? 23x10.5x12, 2 link chains to be exact. It seems every where I look the prices are different - some VERY different. Have some prices at $59.95 (US Funds) to $125.00 (CDN Funds) + Shipping! I like to support local businesses around my area, but gee whiz. When I can order out of the USA and pay the exchange & customs charges (duty/taxes) and come out ahead - more money spent on either cub parts or bills! Looking for some ideas from you's if you have priced them recently.

Also, anyone ever "load" their front tires on a cub with washer fluid? Does it help much with the "pushing" of the front end when using a blower or blade to move snow?

Before you purchase from the US, make sure they will send them to you using the USPS. If they ship UPS or FEDEX, you will have to pay customs duty AND the brokerage fee.

Anything I buy in the USA now, I send it via US Postal Service, they don't bend me over at the boarder for customs charges. Had to pay almost $50.00 about 2 years ago to get a pulley for a 2B tiller into Canada with UPS - THAT is a license to print money, those robbers!

Checked with TSC (Canadian version of Tractor Supply) they are idiots when it comes to ordering something. Checked at a local Toro/Husqvarna dealer, they treat me pretty good since I buy a lot of Stihl stuff there and that's where the $120.00 price came from. Won't deal with the one Cub dealer here, he's a bit of an idiot, doesn't like to phone you back on parts when your looking to order them - guess my money isn't good there? Have 1 or 2 more places to check out, but I think the USA will be getting my business on this deal unfortunately for Canada. Money talks and well walks!

A quick check shows a medium priority box is $40.95

( the USPS started gouging on prices last year, this used to be about $25 )

Hmmmm...if it costs that much to ship chains, depending on what I am paying for them, I might be further ahead to buy in Canada - at least the chains. I can't find the Firestone Tri-Ribs in Canada. Hopefully I can get Miller Tire to ship to me. I know they have a store (affiliated I guess) in Western Ontario. Waiting to hear back from them to see if I can buy direct from them or have to go through Miller. Maybe I can get them thrown on a stock order or something?

Yeah Lew, why DON'T you have a set of chains for sale, tis the season you know!

For what it's worth I bought a set of the 2 link chains for 59 with free shipping and thought I got a deal till I got them. They weigh half of what a good set does and I actually had to let air out of the tires to get them on. So be cAreful you might be getting what you pay for on the more expensive ones!

That's what Miller is selling their chains for - $59.95 for the pair. Pretty close to the same price. Anyone ever bought chains for Miller? Have heard their tires are pretty good for the most part - that what others have heard or am listening to the wrong chatter boxes?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
