Default 1250 Air Filter Numbers

I'm hoping someone can help me find the correct air filter for a cub 1250. I ordered one online and it didn't fit. The one that came was unmarked, but measured 4 1/2" I.D. and 6 1/8" O.D. I needed one that measured ID 5 1/2" and OD 7". I returned it for the other option. Now the problem is that the larger diameter filter is 2 1/2" tall and needs to be about 2" tall to fit. The guy selling me the filter is telling me there are only two options, but neither works for me. I'm wondering if he knows what he's selling, or is my machine an oddball or maybe the air cleaner is not original. As far as I can tell, everything seems original.

Do you know the dimensions of the filter you bought? That would be helpful to me.

Willie,

Sounds like they gave you an air filter for a NF and WF cub.
The quietlines take the bigger air filter which is 5-1/2" ID and 7" OD and about 1-5/8" thick.
The Kohler# is KH-47-083-01.

Thanks. The 1 5/8 number is the part they can't seem to get right. I just went out to measure mine. The second one he sent me is 2 1/2" tall. Thanks.

IF you have the original & correct engine for your 1250, then the Air Filter is clearly indicated in the Parts Manual.....being KH-47-083-01

Napa Gold #2296 I tried one from TSC and it didn't fit. It may have fit a wheelhorse or something, but not a cub.

Since I haven't owned the tractor since new, I can only assume the motor is correct. With the dimensions CubCrazy gave me, I think it's verified. Thanks again.

I bought an air filter from NAPA for my 1250 Nightmare. It was the exact size of the old one, and I know it is working because of the dust build-up around the outside of the filter cover. Sorry, I don't know the part number offhand. My local NAPA store stocks them.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
