Without a model number, or knowing what tractor it came off of, it's kinda hard to tell. But it looks to me like it has the WF mount on it. I don't think that model of thrower ever had a NF bracket that was made like that. Why don't you ask what tractor he took it off of. That will tell you for sure. If he doesn't know, have him measure how far apart the mounting brackets are. (Width of them.) But, like I said, looks to be a WF thrower.

It looks like a QA42A Snowthrower, that will mount any NF or WF Cubs.

I agree on QA42A. Good price if it is complete and in good shape.

Yea the price is pretty good if it spins and the auger and chain is in serviceable shape. Yep looks a lot like the one I did two years ago.
Good luck and let us know. More pictures would be good.
Regards,
Chris

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
